A functional and aesthetic solution for replacing missing teeth—restoring your smile, bite, and confidence by bridging the gap.

Dental Bridges

What Are Dental Bridges?

A dental bridge is a fixed prosthetic used to replace one or more missing teeth by anchoring an artificial tooth (or teeth) to the neighboring natural teeth or dental implants. It literally “bridges the gap” where teeth are missing—blending beautifully with the rest of your smile and restoring full function to your bite.

At Village Dental, we design bridges that look and feel natural, with custom shading, sizing, and shaping done to match your surrounding teeth and maintain your overall dental health.

Bridges may be the right option if you:

  • Have one or more missing teeth in a row

  • Are not a candidate for implants due to health or bone structure

  • Want a fixed (non-removable) solution instead of dentures

  • Want to prevent neighboring teeth from shifting into the gap

  • Have healthy teeth on either side of the missing tooth/teeth

They’re especially effective when the surrounding teeth already need crowns—or when implant surgery is not ideal.

When Might This Be Necessary?

  • Anchored to natural teeth on either side with crowns

  • Anchored on only one side when there’s only one adjacent tooth

  • Anchored by implants instead of natural teeth

  • Uses a bonded metal or porcelain “wing” for minimal prep (used in certain cases)

Bridge Types We Offer

Step-by-Step Procedure

Appointment 1: Preparation & Imaging

• The adjacent teeth (abutments) are gently reshaped to support crowns
• We take digital impressions and scans for our in-house lab to design the bridge
• A temporary bridge is placed for comfort and function

Appointment 2: Final Fitting & Placement

• Your permanent bridge is tried in, adjusted, and bonded into place
• We ensure proper bite alignment, comfort, and aesthetics
• Post-care instructions are reviewed

Timeline: Typically completed in 2–3 visits over 2–3 weeks.

Optional Follow Up

• We may schedule a quick follow-up to check your bite and healing, especially for multi-unit bridges

  • • We’ll evaluate your dental health and take x-rays or 3D scans
    • If surrounding teeth need crowns or already have them, a bridge may be ideal
    • We’ll discuss whether a traditional or implant-supported bridge is better for your situation

  • • Local anesthesia is used to keep you completely comfortable
    • The procedure is similar to getting multiple crowns—no surgical work is required (unless it’s implant-supported)

  • • Some sensitivity to temperature or bite pressure is normal for a few days
    • Avoid sticky or very hard foods for the first week
    • Brush and floss carefully around the bridge using specialized floss or water flossers

 FAQs

  • Yes—dental bridges are fixed in place and do not come out like partial dentures.

  • Healing time varies, but most patients complete the process in 3–6 months. In some cases, immediate crowns may be possible.

  • Absolutely. We use high-quality materials and custom-shade match to ensure your bridge blends seamlessly with your natural teeth.

  • An implant is surgically placed into the jaw and replaces a single tooth root. A bridge uses surrounding teeth as anchors to hold a false tooth in place.
